autoclave
Description
Pressure vessel for sterilisation using moist heat in a batch process. The autoclave works in the same way as a pressure cooker and allows all microorganisms to be completely destroyed.
The autoclave is first filled with demineralised water up to approximately the middle of the standpipe. After closing the lid and ventilation tap at the top, the exhaust tap at the bottom must be opened.
The autoclave is started at the third power level. When a temperature of 100 °C is reached, the exhaust valve must be closed. At 121 °C, the pressure relief valve begins to rattle and the autoclave must be switched to level 1.
When the desired sterilisation time is over, switch off the autoclave and open the vacuum valves. When vacuum is reached, close the vacuum valve again. After opening the ventilation tap, the lid can be opened at atmospheric pressure.
